Today is the day – the day that the man I love marries someone else. I don’t deserve pity or sympathy. I’ve made my bed. I left Mason and ripped his heart to pieces as I ran away. The guilt and sorrow consume me, threatening to choke me everyday.
But today is a new beginning. Today is the day I will wake up with a renewed resolve and determination to do better … to be better … to be worthy. My name is Sara Preston, and this is my story about what happens after.
Hope Over Fear can be read as a stand alone novel.
This is a great and enjoyable read. The book starts off with Sara and her ex, Mason. From the conversation, I thought Sara cheated on him, and I really didn't want to like her because of that. But as the book progressed, and the truth comes out, there is no way you can't like her.
Sara is a nurse in labor and delivery. She also helps with adoptions. This is why she starts a volunteer position at a community center. Sara just needs to finish moving past what happened with Mason. She needs to forgive herself and know her worth.
Adam works as a volunteer at the center also. He is a single dad to 4 yr old twins.
The first meeting between these two is great. Sara doesn't take his crap, she gives it right back to him and puts him in his place. Both of these characters are great. I actually love all the characters in this book, especially Margo. Margo is very funny and has no filter at all! Can't wait to read more.
Perfection. One word. Three syllables. Every reason why I’ll never have the one thing I truly want. I stand dutifully on the pedestal he’s built, waiting for the day he truly sees me.
Then one amazing night, he lets down his walls, only to leave me the next day.
Years have passed, and I’ve tried to move on with my life. But I still dream of him. I still miss him everyday. The memories haunt me. How can I look to the future when my past remains a mystery? The time has come to find the boy who stole my heart and ran away without a word.
But not everyone who is lost wants to be found.
My name is Alexandra Fontaine, and this is my story of unfinished love.
Wings Over Poppies is book #2 in the Over series and can be read as a standalone novel. Warning: This is a new adult romance. It is not intended for readers under the age of 18.
This is the second book in J.A. Derouen's Over series. They are stand alones, so don't need to be read in order. i am really enjoying this series.
Alex has been in love with West since she was 17 years old. Since that first Sunday morning they met under the tree by the water. But life separated them. She went to art school in New York, while he enlisted in the Army. He never returned her emails, and never contacted Alex.
It's been 6 years since thehy parted. Alex needs closure, she needs to know where he is. If he is alive. She needs to be able to move on, but none of her dates ever compare to West.
What happens when she does find him? He isn't the same, but no one is when they return from war.
West isn't the same person anymore. He has both physical, mental, and emotional scars. He still loves Alex, but those invisible scars, are keeping him away. She deserves so much more than a soldier with PTSD, or so he thinks.
Both of these characters are fighters though!
"Our love is not effortless. We've clawed our way through the brush and fire to get here today. But aren't the things we bleed for the most precious?"
